Why Taiga

Built for the gaps the big brands leave open

Quality matcha is only half the story. We close the loop with transparency, guidance and belonging — the parts of the experience most brands ignore.

Radical sourcing transparency

Encha, Jade Leaf and Ippodo ask you to trust a label. We show you the farm, the harvest date and the grower behind every tin — traceability the big names leave conveniently vague.

Education that builds confidence

Every order arrives with a plain-language ritual guide, plus tasting notes and short video lessons — so newcomers whisk like regulars and never waste a precious scoop.

A community around the cup

Members swap recipes, seasonal drops and brewing wins in a space built for tea lovers. Matcha becomes a ritual you share — the loyalty loop competitors never designed for.

Uncompromising quality

Shade-grown, stone-milled and vivid green — the way ceremonial matcha should be. No dull, oxidised powder, no fillers, no bitter supermarket shortcuts.

Single-origin sourcing

One farm. One relationship. Zero guesswork.

Instead of blending anonymous leaf from a dozen suppliers, Taiga locks in an exclusive supply partnership with a single Japanese family farm. That deal secures the first-harvest, shade-grown leaves for our members — and means every tin can be traced to a specific hillside and grower.

  • An exclusive supply deal with a specific Japanese farm
  • Shade-grown, first-harvest leaf reserved for members
  • Stone-milled and shipped within 48 hours of milling

The difference is in the first sip

I finally understand what I'm drinking. Knowing the exact farm — and actually tasting the difference — changed matcha from a habit into a ritual.

The guide made it effortless. My first bowl was smoother than the $9 latte I used to queue for, and I made it in two minutes.

As someone who's tried every major brand, the freshness is on another level. That bright, sweet green note is exactly what's missing elsewhere.

Questions

Everything you want to know

Most brands keep their sourcing vague. Taiga is built on a single, exclusive relationship with one family-run farm — so every tin is traceable to a specific hillside, harvest, and grower. We pair that transparency with plain-language education and a community of drinkers, so you always know exactly what you're whisking and why it tastes the way it does.

Single-origin means the leaf comes from one farm rather than being blended from many anonymous suppliers. Ceremonial-grade refers to the youngest, shade-grown first-harvest leaves, stone-milled into an ultra-fine powder that's smooth enough to drink on its own — no sweeteners needed.

Every order includes a step-by-step ritual guide, and members get access to short video lessons. In short: sift one scoop, add water just off the boil, and whisk in a brisk 'W' motion for about 15 seconds. It takes under two minutes once you've done it a couple of times.

We're opening in limited batches tied to the spring harvest. Joining the waitlist reserves your place in line and unlocks early-access pricing on your first order before we open to the public.

Our curated bundles and accessories are designed around a typical order of around $58 — priced for genuine ceremonial-grade leaf and thoughtful sourcing, not commodity supermarket tea. Waitlist members receive founding-member pricing at launch.

Matcha is at its best within weeks of milling. Because we work directly with the farm, we mill to order in small lots and ship in resealable, light-blocking tins — so the powder that reaches you is vivid green, not the dull olive of stale stock.
